Chicago Cubs Lineup (6/27/26): PCA Leads Off, Shaw in RF, Peterson Makes Cubs Debut
Last night’s game started out okay before finishing like a wet fart, and I’m tied up with other baseball obligations. As such, we’re going bare bones on this breakdown. Lefty David Peterson will make his Cubs debut after switching sides a few days ago in Queens, so we’ll see if his game improves with a legit defense behind him.
Peterson is a groundball specialist who wasn’t getting much help from his old team, and Lord knows the Cubs need a pitcher who avoids home runs. Not that it’ll matter if they can’t score.
Pete Crow-Armstrong is in center, Matt Shaw is in right, Seiya Suzuki is the DH, and Alex Bregman is at third. Michael Busch plays first, Nico Hoerner handles second, Ian Happ is in left, and Carson Kelly does the catching. Dansby Swanson rounds things out at short.
Going for the Brewers is 24-year-old lefty Kyle Harrison, who is 8-1 with a 2.50 ERA in 14 starts. He’s already been traded twice in his young career, first from the Giants to the Red Sox in the Rafael Devers deal and then to the Crew a few months later in the swap that included Caleb Durbin and Andruw Monasterio. As with seemingly every other player the Brewers acquire, he instantly achieved dude status.
Harrison gets a lot of strikeouts with his 95 mph heater and 82 mph slurve, but he also gives up a lot of contact in the air. I don’t like this matchup for the Cubs, which means they’ll probably go HAM. First pitch is at 6:10pm CT on Marquee and The Score.
