Justin Steele Makes First Rehab Appearance for I-Cubs

After a lengthy rehab process that included a serious setback earlier in the season, Justin Steele was finally able to take the mound in live competition for the Iowa Cubs on Wednesday evening. The lefty recorded five outs, two on strikes, and gave up three runs (one earned) on four hits and no walks. He threw 26 of 36 pitches for strikes and his fastball sat just over 90 mph.

There’s not much to take away from this other than excitement over the fact that he’s healthy and competing again. It’ll take more experience, and probably some more velocity, before he’s able to face big league hitters again, and that might not come until next year. In the meantime, it’ll be fun to follow him at Iowa.
